Karl A. Gathof 1945-2018

Psychiatrist Karl Gathof MD passed away in Green Valley on June 19, 2018. He was 73.

Gathof was born July 27, 1945 in Kahl am Main, Germany. He began his medical career in Canada graduating from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1971 and interned at Calgary General Hospital 1971-1972. He came to Tucson in 1987 and trained in neurology and psychiatry at the University of Arizona. He practiced at Kino Community Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital. He later joined La Frontera in Green Valley.

He was a PCMS member from 1991-2015. His passions included travel, sculpture and photography.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years June; sister Rosie, stepchildren April Parsons and Ward Mitchell; grandchildren Blythe Karli, Michael, Baron, Harley; great granddaughter Phoenix. Charitable contributions can be made to the Salvation Army and American Cancer Society.
