Iserson featured in 20/20 segment Sept. 13
Ken Iserson, MD, Professor Emeritus of Emergency Medicine at the University of Arizona and PCMS member, is featured in an upcoming ABC 20/20 segment on improvised medical practices used to save lives. Iserson is in one of four segments on the one-hour broadcast airing September 13 on KGUN in Tucson. The 20/20 special is in advance
of a new entertainment series “The Good Doctor” about a young physician who is on the autism spectrum and a savant who improvises medical procedures in order to save lives. “The Good Doctor” is scheduled to premier September 25 and a preview has been released.
Iserson was filmed doing numerous improvised practices on mannequins at the University of Arizona Simulation Lab, have several of his in-field videos and photographs and did a sit-down interview for the segment. His book Improvised Medicine: Providing Care in Extreme Environments, 2nd edition was published in 2016 by McGraw-Hill Publishing.
